• Criminals can monitor a business for as long as two weeks before acting. They enter the parking lot and park in different positions as they collect the information they need.
• Criminals use expensive vehicles and dress smartly so that they mimic business people coming and going for meetings, and so are not easily identified as suspects.
• Criminals use company information that they obtain from boards advertising which companies are in the office park.
• Casual employees often provide information on companies to potential criminals.

For an experienced criminal it can be very easy to gain access to a business park. It is therefore important for management at the different companies represented in the business park, to train and regularly remind their staff in being alert and on the lookout for suspicious activities.

There is a great danger in being complacent and not aware of what is going on around you, especially inside a business park or complex. Criminals know this, and will therefore do their best to blend in so that you barely notice them.
